Dandelion

A ‘60s Memoir

By Catherine James

The unwanted child of a young, beautiful and abusive mother and an absent father, Catherine James suffered through years of neglect and abuse in a family so bizarre and often sadistic that it's amazing the fragile girl made it past adolescence.

By eleven years old, Catherine James was living in a reform school, having been abandoned by her parents. By thirteen she was befriended by Bob Dylan and by fifteen a regular at Warhol's Factory. At seventeen she had a child and moved to London with her rocker boyfriend. By the time she was nineteen, Catherine was living a glamorous life that few knew even existed in the late sixties. Her close friends included Eric Clapton, Roger Daltrey and Jimi Hendrix; her lovers included Jackson Browne, Mick Jagger and Jimmy Page.

Accessible, yet intelligently written, Dandelion is a story of romance and heartbreak, rock gods and monsters. It is also a classic story of a lonely little girl overcoming all odds to create a life for herself and her son using only her wits, her charm and beauty, and a lot of good fortune.
